Type Locality and Naming

Simla (Shali Basin), named after the village Ropri. [Original Publication: Srikantia, S. V. and Sharma, R.P. 1976. Geology of the Shali Belt and adjoining areas. Memoirs Geological Survey of India, 106 (1), 31-166]. Lowest formation of Shali Gr.

Synonym: Ropri Member

Lower contact

Non-conformable with Paleoproterozoic Sundernagar Gr.

Upper contact

Conformably overlain by the Khaira Fm.

Within the Shali Belt, exposed between Ravi and around the Shali Peak in the Sutlej Valley.
